My Life is a Poem
My life is a poem That I'm living line by line. I don't always understand the metaphors Or how they will make sense in time. My life is a poem Written in pastels On a coffee-stained page in a clothbound book- Its words are my very cells. My life is a poem Which tells me there's a Poet. I'm often angry at how he writes, But I find more peace as I get to know him. My life is a poem Some lines I wish I could repeat Like the ones of you and me in 2023 Laughing under cherry blossoms in the spring. My life is a poem, Much better than it should be, Because the One who holds the pen Has had great mercy on me. My life is a poem That intersects with others. I hope one day we can fill in the blanks And rhyme again with one another. My life is a poem, And it has many readers. I hope they keep me in their pocket. And read me when they need comfort. My life is a poem That I know one day will end. Yet in fields of wild lavender I know it will begin again.
